Queen Mary of Denmark kicked off her trip to Brazil with a visit to Manaus - which is known as one of the most dangerous cities in the world. The royal, 52, was effortlessly elegant as she visited the Amazon Museum MUSA at the Adolpho Ducke forest reserve - and later visited the Teatro Amazonas. She is in the country for a four day official visit, where she and the Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities Lars Aagaard are focusing on 'Danish-Brazilian cooperation on biodiversity, health and the fight against violence against women'.

An Idaho resident who killed a homeless man after treating him to a breakfast at IHOP has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison. Dallas Brower, 28, approached two vagrants trying to sleep at bus stop under the guise of offering them a meal in July of 2023. Justin Friesner, 24, and his friend Cameron Russell, who had been homeless for only few months at that point, accepted what seemed like a kind gesture, Ada County Deputy Prosecutor Katelyn Farley said during Brower's sentencing hearing.

A photo of the ill-fated Bayesian superyacht which was taken minutes before it sank appears to show that a door on the vessel was closed, after claims it had been left open. The snap, taken by a passenger on board a neighbouring yacht, contradicts allegations that the crew mistakenly left a door open and allowed water to flood the boat. It was taken 14 minutes before the Bayesian went down during a freak storm off the coast of Sicily - killing seven people, including the British tech tycoon Mike Lynch and his 18-year-old daughter Hannah.

Victims of Hurricane Helene are being advised to brace themselves once again as a new tropical storm may be heading their way this weekend. Forecasters predict a tropical depression could form in the Gulf of Mexico to trigger rain and thunderstorms over the next few days. Scattered showers, high winds and lightning are expected over portions of the northwestern Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico due to a trough of low pressure, the National Weather Channel said in an advisory.
