NASCAR Talladega Betting Odds: Ryan Blaney, Joey Logano Lead Favorites for YellaWood 500

Instead, two Team Penske drivers are getting the most attention.

Ryan Blaney and Joey Logano enter the weekend as co-favorites at +950, followed by teammate Austin Cindric at +1100, according to one published set of betting odds.

It's a fitting lineup for a track where drafting partners, split-second decisions and avoiding trouble can matter just as much as having the fastest car.

And with only three races remaining in the championship Chase, Sunday's 188-lap contest carries consequences well beyond the race trophy.

Blaney and Logano lead the board, with Cindric close behind. Brad Keselowski and Chase Briscoe are next at +1400.

Here are the listed odds for several of Sunday's leading contenders:

Odds are from a published pre-race board and are subject to change. Prices may differ between sportsbooks.

The concentration of Team Penske drivers near the top isn't particularly surprising. Blaney and Logano have both won at Talladega, and Cindric has demonstrated his ability to compete on NASCAR's drafting tracks.

Still, being the favorite at Talladega offers little protection once the field starts racing three-wide.

Kyle Larson arrives at Talladega leading the Cup Series standings, but his +1600 odds place him behind several drivers in the betting market.

Christopher Bell, just five points behind Larson in the championship standings, is listed at +1800. Denny Hamlin, 31 points back, sits at +2000.

Those prices reflect a fundamental challenge of superspeedway racing: A driver's championship position doesn't necessarily translate into a greater chance of winning the race.

The draft can keep dozens of cars in contention, while one poorly timed block can end an otherwise promising afternoon.

Carson Hocevar offers another reminder of that unpredictability. He won the Cup Series' spring Talladega race and returns with +1600 odds, level with Larson, Elliott and Wallace on the listed board.

For Blaney, Logano and the other favorites, Sunday's challenge is straightforward in theory and much harder in practice: stay in the right drafting line, survive the inevitable close calls and be near the front when it matters.

At Talladega , even the shortest odds come with plenty of uncertainty.
