A FURIOUS driver has slammed "heartless cash grabbers" after he was fined £100 for parking outdoors his own home.

He advised EdinburghLive: "The council wardens of their wisdom at the moment are issuing tickets for this kind of parking.

"Absolutely scandalous. Fast £100 fantastic. Heartless money grabbers.

"No leaflet drop, warning or anything."

Fraser stated more than 20 of his Morningside neighbours have been slapped with tickets beneath the brand new rules, which came into pressure on Monday.

Edinburgh drivers now face a £100 effective in the event that they park on the pavement or at a crossing.

The principles are purported to make getting around easier and safer for individuals with prams or wheelchairs.

The £100 fine is halved to £50 if drivers pay up in less than a fortnight.

Medical employees, emergency providers and some delivery drivers and couriers are exempt in some conditions.

Edinburgh City Council stated: "The brand new rules don't apply to parking at driveways, garages or property entrances.

"If there's an present restriction already in place, akin to a single yellow line, it will still apply.

"You shouldn't park on the pavement outdoors your driveway as this might still be enforced."

EDINBURGH WHINGE

Councillor Scott Arthur stated: "Every driver is liable for parking their automobiles considerately.

"That features parking the place it might not trigger an obstruction to the pavement or road.

"We introduced the pavement parking ban in to offer a protected and accessible environment for everybody, especially these with sight impairments, mobility issues or pushing buggies.

"We're already hearing from people who really respect clearer, wider pavements.

"We promoted the brand new guidelines in the press, on social media and as a part of a serious nationwide campaign.

"Parking attendants issued greater than 2000 warning notices on cars parked on pavements.

"That is in addition to concentrating on streets where pavement parking is an actual problem by writing to residents and implementing on-street advertising.

"The fact that compliance shot as much as more than 90% in the weeks leading up to enforcement starting demonstrates elevated awareness amongst the public."
